Description: RFID is an automatic identification method that relies on storing and remotely retrieving data using devices called RFID tags. Most RFID tags have no internal power supply. A minute electrical current is induced in an antenna by the incoming radio frequency signal and provides just enough power for the tag to power up and transmit data.
There are several security concerns with RFID technology. Attackers have been able to maliciously identify, read and copy the tags. These tags are now in building access cards, credit cards, transit cards and passports. The e-passports of The United States, The United Kingdom, Germany, and The Netherlands have been attacked to obtain full access to the digitized fingerprint, photograph, and all other encrypted data on the RFID tags.
