After working with shopping.com partner program for more than 1 year and with 15 quality sites, I would suggest all you guys to stay away from partner program becuase simple they cheat nothing else.

I joined this program in 2007 and build 15 quality sites using first API2 then API3 and following 100% genuine ways to get hits using normal SEO process (adwords cant afford becuase CPC is too low) but at last when I reached to around $150 level per month they sent me mail stating that my account is now terminated - sucks

I was surprised after reading the termination mail from them. I developed around 15 quality websites for them and slowly increasing traffic but all afforts dead when they terminate my account.

Actually there were no problems with terms complaince, sites were 100% following API rules, the reason they mentioned was:

- Not in complaince with terms
- Low quality clicks

Now firstly there were no such terms voilation which "Faye Ho" accepted after couple of mails, She mentioned the only reason is the second one, which you can read in forum as well.

For second reason - I was earning around $150 per month with around 50 quality score. So now being as developer you are know to SEO process and time it takes to optimize a site for SE's, I cant do PPC becuase their CPC and CPC sharing is already too low, I tried with PPC but failed with around $0.23 CPC on Google with only $.08 avg CPC earned from Shopping (so its a waste of time thinking about PPC), the only way left is organic SEO which takes time.

THE BASIC PROBLEM IS WITH THIER VALUE BASED PRICING MODEL WHERE ADVERTISERS ARE CHARGED LESS FOR SAME CLICK ON LESS POPULAR SITE LIKE MINE AND MORE ON SHOPPING.COM SITES, SO THEY FEAR OF LOOSING MORE AND MORE REVENUE AFTER A SUBSTANCIAL INCREASE IN SUCH LESS POPULAR SITES.

Also the problem with their affiliate manager "Faye Ho" is; she is very moody and choosy, sometimes she assists very well and sometimes she just refuse to help (earlier my sites were down for 5 days due to a misunderstanding), The tech person Ryan is very good and helps but he is not who manage accounts.

So the only option left for affiliate marketers is use their test API and promote site for 1-2 year thn apply for a key, otherwise anyone could become victim like me.
